Construction Project Questions Before an Inquiry

01 Who should use the project-invitation page? −

The Invite V&H to Bid page is for owners, general contractors, and developers asking us to consider work on their project. Identify who is issuing the invitation and the portion of construction involved. Subcontractors or suppliers offering work to V&H should use the separate bid-room route.

02 Which service should I select in my message? +

Choose the description closest to the requested work: roadwork, stormwater drainage, or concrete infrastructure. If the documents combine these activities, describe the connected package. The service pages give more detail about the scope of each category.

03 What if I only have an early project concept? +

Begin with the proposed location, the type of work, and your role. Explain which documents exist and which details are still being developed. An early conversation is different from a request to price a complete bid package, so identify what you’re asking us to discuss at this stage.

04 How much detail belongs in the first message? +

A short, specific overview is useful: project name, site location, requested work, relevant dates, and a contact person. You don’t need to reproduce an entire specification in the message. Instead, identify the documents that support the inquiry and the sections relevant to the requested scope.

Plans, Dates, and Supporting Information

01 Which deadline should I provide? −

Give the date by which a bid or response is requested, and label it clearly. Include the question deadline if the invitation lists one. The planned construction start and completion dates are separate information; sharing both the bid timetable and construction schedule helps put the opportunity in context.

02 How do I identify a revised document set? +

Use the revision date, drawing issue, or addendum reference supplied by the project team. Describe what has changed in your inquiry and identify the documents being replaced. This helps the conversation stay tied to the version you intend us to consider.

03 Can I attach site photographs to explain the request? +

Photographs can provide context when you have permission to share them. Label the location and the view, and explain the part relevant to your question. For restricted files, ask about the appropriate sharing method first. Images support a scope discussion but do not replace project drawings.

04 Should I describe access or phasing restrictions? +

Yes. Include relevant requirements already stated in the project documents, such as work phases, site access arrangements, or specified work periods. Explain which requirement applies to the requested package. Avoid separating those conditions from the rest of the information used to describe the work.

Finding the Right Contact

01 Does the office address need to match the project location? −

No. Tell us both where the project is located and which company you’re contacting us from. Our service-area page covers inquiries in eight markets, from Fort Myers and Naples to North Port and Arcadia. The construction location is the useful reference for discussing the opportunity.

02 Where should a supplier ask about a specific opportunity? +

Start in the subcontractor bid room and identify the project, supplied materials, or trade involved. A message offering services to V&H follows a different path from an owner inviting us to bid. For a general company question, use Contact.
