Stormwater Drainage Construction
At V&H Construction, we handle drainage construction for civil infrastructure projects, including stormwater systems, culverts, structures, swales, and improvements to existing drainage. From our Lehigh Acres base, we welcome discussions about the work shown in your roadway or site construction package.
Call (239) 841-6400 or invite V&H to bid to discuss the drainage portion of your project.
STA 1+00 · SCOPE
Drainage Construction With a Defined Scope
Section C–C / new route, replacement, or improvement. Name the system and the part being changed.
A drainage inquiry is most useful when it identifies the system and the part being changed. Tell us whether the plans describe a new route, replacement work, or improvements to existing features.
01
Stormwater systems
Identify the route, structures, and connections included in the package.
02
Culverts
Share the location and the drawings describing the proposed crossing or replacement.
03
Drainage structures
Point to the structures and details relevant to the requested work.
04
Swales and improvements
Describe the planned changes and their relationship to adjoining surfaces.
Our focus here is civil stormwater work. Household plumbing and drain cleaning are separate services from the construction scope described on this page.

Consider the Connected Site
Drainage is part of a wider site. Plans can show connections to existing systems, nearby roads, pedestrian routes, and surfaces that need restoration after construction. Including those details helps define a complete inquiry.
For projects combining services, see our roadway construction and concrete improvements. Identify the work assigned to V&H for discussion, along with any adjoining activity assigned to another party. That distinction is particularly useful when separate packages share the same work area.

Prepare the Information Behind the Plans
Include the current drawings, relevant specifications, project location, and bid deadline. If the documents identify existing utilities, access arrangements, construction phases, or restrictions on the work area, include those sections too.
Photographs can help show current conditions when you have permission to share them. Label the view and location so the image adds context. A photograph supports the conversation, but it doesn’t replace the project documents or an engineer’s design.

STA 4+00 · QUESTIONS
Drainage Project Questions
01 Is this the same as a yard-drainage or plumbing service? −
This page covers stormwater infrastructure construction. If your inquiry concerns a civil project with culverts, structures, swales, or a defined drainage system, describe that scope when you contact us.
02 Can I send a drainage package within a road project? +
Yes. Identify the drainage work items and the road sections they affect. Include the associated restoration details so the boundary between the two packages is clear.
03 What information helps explain drainage construction costs? +
The layout, quantities, specified components, existing connections, access, and surface restoration affect the work being discussed. Send the documents describing those items rather than relying on a generic unit price.
04 How is timing discussed for this work? +
Start with the overall construction schedule and identify when the drainage portion is expected. Note connections to earlier or later activities shown in the project plan. A completion date needs to be assessed against that scope and sequence.
05 Do you provide the engineering design described in the plans? +
The service described here is construction. Include the design documents supplied by your project team and identify its technical contact for design questions.

Appendix · Drainage terms
Terms on a Drainage Sheet
Four items that appear on most drainage packages, described plainly.
Term 01
Structure
An inlet, manhole, or junction box in the system. Plans identify each one and the pipes that enter and leave it.
Term 02
Pipe run
A length of storm pipe between two structures, called out by size, material, and depth.
Term 03
Swale
A shaped open channel that carries or holds stormwater. Grading and side slopes come from the drawings.
Term 04
Outfall
The point where the system discharges. Its condition and access often shape how the work is sequenced.
